This Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting deeply on gratitude, especially for this incredible community that feels like family. This season always brings a moment to pause, to take stock of where we’ve been and where we’re going. For me, that reflection is rooted in the strength, compassion, and resilience of everyone connected to the Duchenne and Becker community. Whether you are a parent, a person living with Duchenne or Becker, a clinician, researcher, or advocate, your unwavering commitment inspires me every day.
This year has not been without its challenges, both personally and within our Duchenne and Becker community. There have been moments that have tested my resolve and reminded me how important it is to lean on the people around us. Through it all, I have been carried by the support and encouragement of this community. You have reminded me that while no two paths are the same, we are not on this journey alone, and that our shared purpose is what gives us the strength to keep moving forward, even when the road feels uncertain.
At the same time, there is so much to be thankful for. We continue to see meaningful advancements in research, care, and advocacy that are opening new doors for individuals and families impacted by Duchenne and Becker. Each movement forward, no matter how small, represents hope, progress, and the promise of a better tomorrow made possible by our collective effort and steadfast belief that together, we will change the future.
As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to thank you for believing in our mission, and for honoring every journey alongside us. My heart is full knowing that, together, we form a community that lifts one another up and continues to push for progress with compassion and purpose.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving.
Warmly,
